The combination of cultural artifacts, linguistics, oral & written histories, with Y DNA data presents this path westward to the present for my family. Our American ancestors kept excellent records for the 15 generations since the founding of New Haven Colony in 1638. But, that's just the beginning! We are fortunate to have a complete, fairly well documented written male lineage which extends some 41 generations through England to the founding of the Norman Dynasty in 911. Prior to Francia, our oral history is preserved in the Old Norse Heimskringla Sagas of the Óðinic Exodus of the Scythian Goðs from Homeric Taruiša Anatolia and presumably, Luwian Sea Peoples & Hittites. Y-DNA and anthropological evidence appears to support these traditions and extends the path over Caucasia, beyond the Volga delta and Caspian Sea, down through Bactria to the lands of Sumerian Jiroft and the Indus Valley. The journey of my ancestors and the knowledge of the history and cultures woven in their path resonate heavily in me influencing my worldview and all that I create. Everything that is old is new again in the cycle of life and sometimes you must return to the beginning to start a new.
